BVB goalkeeper Kobel misses Switzerland due to muscular problems
BVB keeper Gregor Kobel is out for the rest of the European Championship qualifiers with muscular problems. The 25-year-old Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper, who should have been in the starting line-up for the Swiss national team's home game against Kosovo in Basel on Saturday, will remain with the national team until Sunday and then travel back to BVB. It is the second time this season that the five-time international has had to miss out through injury.
In Wednesday's 1-1 draw against Israel, Switzerland missed out on early qualification for the European Championship due to Israel's equalizer shortly before the end of the game. Instead of Kobel, national team coach Murat Yakin had called up 34-year-old Yann Sommer from Inter Milan.
Despite Kobel's absence, Borussia Dortmund's goalkeeper continues to face challenges in European Championship qualification. With Kobel ruled out for the remaining qualifiers, Switzerland may need to rely on substitute goalkeeper Yann Sommer more heavily during their remaining European Championship qualification matches.
