- BVB boss Ricken: 'We must not exclude titles'

Borussia Dortmund's new CEO, Lars Ricken, isn't shy about his ambitions and those of the football club's players. "We want to compete for titles, and of course, we want to win one in the end," said the 48-year-old during a press conference. That's their mindset. "I can't promise a title, but I can't rule one out either," he added. Theoretically, there are quite a few possibilities with the German championship, the DFB-Pokal, the Club World Cup, and the Champions League.

Ricken is very satisfied with the transfers so far, saying, "We've achieved our top transfer targets in their respective positions." So far, Dortmund has signed center-back Waldemar Anton (VfB Stuttgart), central midfielder Serhou Guirassy (VfB Stuttgart), Pascal Groß (Brighton & Hove Albion), and right-back Yan Couto (Manchester City). "We had all four players in our sights, and I'm extremely pleased that we were able to sign them," said Ricken.

Dortmund's new strategic focus under Ricken could potentially see them challenge for titles in not just the Bundesliga, but also international competitions like the Champions League and the Club World Cup, given Germany's rich footballing history. The club's recent transfer activity, including the signing of Waldemar Anton from VfB Stuttgart, indicates their intentions to strengthen their squad for these challenges.
