Bundesliga - BVB: Bender goes, Piszczek comes
Borussia Dortmund's new head coach Nuri Sahin will be supported by three coaches in the future. The football Bundesligist announced this on Thursday. Joao Tralhao, Ertugrul Arslan, and former professional Lukasz Piszczek will complete the trainer staff at the Champions League finalist from July 1. The previous assistant trainers Sven Bender and Sebastian Geppert will leave on June 30.
"We have managed to put together a trio with Joao, Ertugrul, and Lukasz that brings many competencies and good ideas and will work well with Nuri. We are convinced that they, with their different strengths, will help us have a successful season," said sports business manager Lars Ricken.
Tralhao and Arslan have already assisted Sahin during his tenure as a trainer at the Turkish first league club Antalyaspor. The long-time Dortmund right-back Piszczek left the Westfalen in July 2021 towards his Polish homeland to LKS Goczalkowice-Zdrój, where he functions as a player-trainer.
"I would like to thank Sven and Sebastian for our cooperation. I am looking forward to the new team and the daily exchange with three experts whom I highly respect as human beings and professionally," said Sahin. Piszczek was his first choice after the departure of Sven Bender was confirmed. Sahin regretted this. "To him, I have a special connection. I would have been very happy to continue working with Sven," said the 35-year-old.
