Municipalities - Bützow against leasing land for refugee accommodation
The Bützow town council has spoken out against the leasing or sale of municipal land to the district of Rostock for the accommodation of refugees. On Monday evening, 13 town councillors voted no to a draft resolution to this effect, while seven voted yes, as the town council announced after the meeting. The issue was also the subject of a referendum in November, but this failed due to a missed quorum.
On November 12, a majority of participants also voted against leasing or selling municipal land or buildings to the district of Rostock for the construction of shared accommodation. However, the total number of no votes did not reach the required 25 percent of those entitled to vote. The city representatives therefore had to deal with the issue conclusively on Monday. The district had previously signaled that it was sticking to its plans for shared accommodation in Bützow.
