Butcher's shop recalls meatballs in South Baden
A butcher's shop in southern Baden is recalling meatballs contaminated with listeria. The bacteria were found in packs of four meatballs that were on sale in branches of the Gustav Winterhalter butcher's shop based in Elzach (Emmendingen district), according to the lebensmittelwarnung.de portal on Wednesday.
According to the butcher's shop, meatballs with the batch number 29323 and a best-before date of November 3, 2023 should be disposed of and no longer consumed. The company has ten branches in South Baden.
Listeria can seriously affect sick people and children. The bacteria are very resistant. They can survive both freezing and drying. Cooking, frying, sterilizing and pasteurizing, on the other hand, safely kills the bacteria.
In response to the recall, affected customers should avoid consuming the contaminated meatballs from the Gustav Winterhalter butcher's shop Associations, such as local food safety groups, may provide further guidance. The recalled meatballs, with batch number 29323 and a best-before date of November 3, 2023, should only be disposed of.
