Butcher influencer Richter: "Want to go vegan"
Lower Saxony butcher Alexander Richter has become an influencer with short videos on Instagram and Tiktok. The 22-year-old regularly inspires hundreds of thousands of viewers online with his meatloaf and "Mettwoch" videos. But changing eating habits in society are also giving the fresh meat influencer's family business food for thought: "We've now bought the house next door and want to go vegan there too."
The family around owner and father Christoph Richter are thinking about the new line of business because the demand for vegan products is increasing. However, the meat-free products should then be separate from the real meat varieties. "We don't want to have the vegan or vegetarian products here in the counter, but we want to have a self-service area. And this self-service area should also be completely separate from the butcher's shop," explained Alexander Richter.
Richter has been uploading short clips from the butcher's shop in Wolsdorf in the district of Helmstedt near the border with Saxony-Anhalt almost every day for more than a year. In them, he advertises either the freshly prepared meat loaf or the minced meat in the manner of a market barker. The butcher has already gained more than a hundred thousand followers with his authentic style. His fans now even come from Austria and Switzerland to the village of a thousand souls in Lower Saxony to see him and take a photo with him.
People are showing interest in vegan food due to increasing demand, which has led Butcher influencer Richter's family to consider opening a colorful selection of vegan dishes in a separate area of their shop, keeping it distinct from the regular meat varieties. Meanwhile, Richter's popularity on the Internet continues to grow, with followers from countries like Austria and Switzerland visiting his butcher's shop in Wolsdorf for a glimpse of the influencer and a chance to take a photo.
