Business associations call for the warning strike to be called off
Companies in the north are calling for the warning strike at Deutsche Bahn to be called off. Michael Thomas Fröhlich, Managing Director of the Federation of Business Associations in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein (UVNord), demanded that the German Train Drivers' Union negotiate without going on strike. "It is unacceptable that a threatening backdrop is being created at such an early stage, contrary to custom."
If this is already starting now, the question must be asked as to where this wage dispute should end. "We hope and appeal not to instrumentalize customers and employees again in order to push through our own collective bargaining policy, for which acceptance is already threatening to dwindle," said Fröhlich.
The ongoing wage dispute in the railroad sector could lead to increased tariffs for commuters, escalating traffic congestion. If the strikes continue, it might negatively impact the overall efficiency of rail transportation.
