Schwerin - Buses and streetcars do not run due to warning strikes
The trade union Verdi has called for warning strikes in local public transport in Schwerin for two Advent weekends. Buses and streetcars in Schwerin will then come to a complete standstill. According to Verdi, the first 48-hour warning strike will begin on Saturday (December 2) at 3:30 am and end on Monday (December 4) at 4:00 am.
The following weekend, residents of Schwerin will then have to prepare for a 72-hour warning strike, during which local public transport will come to a complete standstill. This work stoppage begins on December 9 (Saturday) and lasts until December 12 (Tuesday). This strike will also run from the start to the end of operations.
The warning strikes are triggered by Verdi's current negotiations with Nahverkehr Schwerin GmbH. No agreement was reached in the third round of negotiations either. "Today's offer from the employer represents a deterioration in the pay scale compared to the previous negotiation offer, is to be interpreted as a provocation and our response is clear," explains Verdi's chief negotiator Christian Manke. "We will fight for our goals!"

- The United Services Union, represented by Christian Manke, has strongly condemned Nahverkehr Schwerin GmbH's recent negotiating offer, viewing it as a provocation and threatening a heavy response during the upcoming warning strikes in Schwerin's local transport system.
- In response to the union's discontent, commuters in mecklenburg-vorpommern's Schwerin should prepare for a heavy disruption in their weekend traffic as both 48-hour and 72-hour warning strikes are planned for the city's buses and streetcars, set to cause significant delays and potential diversions in local transport.
- With the heavy impact of warning strikes scheduled for both December 2-4 and December 9-12, city residents and visitors alike should brace for heavy traffic congestion and possible alternative transit solutions during the weekend periods as streetcar and bus services will come to a near-complete standstill.
- As the impact of the warning strikes on Schwerin's public transportation system becomes increasingly heavy, Urban planners and traffic management officials should consider alternative arrangements to mitigate the traffic disruptions and ensure smooth commuting, including encouraging carpooling, cycling, or using alternative public transportation options during the strike periods.
