Tracks closed - Bus stuck in the track bed at a level crossing in Groß-Gerau
After an unsuccessful turning maneuver, a bus is stuck at a railroad crossing in Groß-Gerau and causes a track closure towards Darmstadt. A crane now has to recover the stranded vehicle, said a police spokesperson. Since the overhead line has to be disconnected first, the track closure of the rails may still last.
No one was reported injured. The bus was on an empty run, so there were no passengers on board, according to the spokesperson. The bus driver had driven the bus into a street at the railroad crossing and had noticed too late that it was closed due to construction work. When he wanted to turn, he hit a construction signal and ended up in the railroad bed, as it turned out.
In Hesse, the traffic disruption at the railroad crossing in Groß-Gerau, due to the bus accident, has affected commuters heading towards Darmstadt. This railroad accident, causing a track closure, has also impeded the movement of freight trains on this particular railroad line.
