Regional vehicular movement - Bus station in Harburg to undergo renovation, with new bus stop locations.
Starting from Monday, riders of public transport in Hamburg-Harburg will have to adapt to a temporary shift of their main bus station. The current mid-1980s bus interchange, found at Harburg station, is being torn down and replaced. The new station should be in operation around early summer of 2026, as announced by the Hamburg Tramway. In the meantime, almost all bus lines will use a makeshift station near the Harburg-Rathaus S-Bahn station. Line 153, however, will continue going to Wilhelmsburg.
The current bus station serves roughly 40,000 passengers every day and has up to 150 buses either arriving or leaving per hour during peak times. The new station will feature a significantly larger capacity, with the length of departure spaces increasing from 163 to 283 meters. For the duration of the two-year construction phase, a temporary bus station was installed on the east side of the tracks at Harburg station.
