- Burning of a straw storage facility in Wischhafen - €200,000 in damage
In a fire at a straw storage facility in Wischhafen (district of Stade), an estimated damage of 200,000 euros was incurred. Two employees of the farm discovered smoke coming from the approximately 20 by 50 meter large barn in the afternoon, the police reported in the evening. When the fire department arrived with around 160 personnel, the barn was already completely ablaze. The firefighting efforts lasted until the evening. No one was injured. The cause of the fire was initially unclear. The police are investigating.
The intense flames of the fire engulfed the entire barn, causing its destruction. The smoldering remnants of the straw storage facility still carried the faint scent of fire.
