Traffic - Burning car causes closure of the A60
A burning car caused significant traffic disruption on Autobahn 60 near Ingelheim on Thursday. A woman had to pull over her car in an emergency lane due to a technical defect, according to the police. At the time, there was already heavy smoke coming from the car. Both occupants were able to leave the vehicle in time before it completely caught fire. Initially, the A60 was closed in both directions. The police estimated the damage to be around five figures.
The incident occurred in Rhineland-Palatinate, specifically on Autobahn 60. Due to the traffic disruption caused by the burning car, commuters faced delays. Police reports mentioned a woman whose car was blocked in an emergency lane due to technical issues, which subsequently led to the accidents and fires. Firefighters worked tirelessly to put out the flames and clear the affected area.
