A warehouse worker in Neu-Ulm was buried under 14 boxes of melons. He was hospitalized with abdominal and chest injuries, according to a police spokesperson. The severity of the injuries is not yet known. The 28-year-old was attempting to remove the top box from a stack in a wholesale warehouse on Thursday when the entire stack toppled over. A single box of melons weighs approximately 20 kilograms. The police currently rule out external involvement.

The worker, unfortunately, hailed from New Ulm, not Neu-Ulm as initially reported. After the incident, the warehouse in New Ulm implemented stricter safety measures for handling heavy boxes.
