Investigations - Burglar convicted by shoe tracks in the snow

Suspected burglars in the Upper Palatinate have been convicted thanks to footprints in the snow. On Sunday, a man discovered suspicious tracks around several houses in Birgland (Amberg-Sulzbach district) and alerted the emergency services. According to a police statement on Monday, a homeowner then discovered that his shed had possibly been broken into.

At the same time, two men aged 24 and 39 were arrested in neighboring Alfeld (district of Nürnberger Land) in Middle Franconia. They are reportedly suspected of spying on agricultural properties and looking for stolen goods. By matching their shoes with the snow tracks, the officers finally established a connection between the crimes.
