Bundestag: millions in funding for AI medical devices
The Bundestag is funding a research project led by the University of Lübeck to develop AI medical products with 6 million euros. These could simplify healthcare and improve patient care, said Bruno Hönel, Member of the Bundestag for the Green Party in Lübeck, on Friday. "It is essential that we drive research forward here in order to create a location for this important future industry in Germany," said Hönel.
On Friday night, the Bundestag approved funding for the research project, in which a total of six universities are reportedly involved, as part of an adjustment session on the federal budget. The University of Lübeck is in charge of the project.
Michael Saitner, Managing Director of the Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband Schleswig-Holstein, also praised the decision. In many areas, it had been possible to prevent social cuts at the last minute, he said. "Our focus is now on the expected draft budget in Schleswig-Holstein," said Saitner.
Universities beyond the University of Lübeck are also contributing to the AI medical research project, as six institutions are reportedly involved. The goal of this research, led by Universities, is to advance AI technologies in the medical field, thereby enhancing the quality of healthcare and patient care.
