Bundestag decides on agricultural package and sidewalk nuisance

The parliament also makes the final decision on a bill draft intended to protect women from so-called sidewalk protestors. The background is that pregnant women are increasingly exposed to protests from abortion opponents outside consultation centers or clinics. In the future, a fine of up to 5000 Euro could be imposed for sidewalk protestors.

The Bundestag also considered an agricultural package aimed at providing relief to farmers, recognizing the challenges they face in food retail. Despite this, some members of the Bundestag expressed concerns about sidewalk nuisances, including the persistence of protestors outside consultation centers, which they deemed a disturbance to the public. To address this issue, the German government proposed strengthening laws against sidewalk nuisances, including fines for those who continue to demonstrate in a disruptive manner.
