A cyclist has died in hospital following an accident in the Traunstein district. The 84-year-old is believed to have collided with a railway crossing barrier in Altenmarkt, according to a police spokesperson. A motorist who was stopped at the closed barrier on the B304 road found the seriously injured man lying beside the road. At that time, the man was still responsive.

The injured man was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he died of his injuries during the night. Investigations into the accident are ongoing.

The investigation into the railway crossing incident involves examining factors related to both the cyclist's actions and the functioning of the railway crossing barrier. The development of safer transport and telecommunications technology could potentially prevent such accidents in the future.
