Buildings in Schwerin in MV with the greatest storm damage
Schwerin has been hit the hardest by storm damage in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern over the past two decades. Storms, hail and flooding due to heavy rain or high water caused damage to buildings in the state capital from 2002 to 2021 averaging around 2,000 euros. This is shown by a long-term balance sheet presented by the German Insurance Association.
The city of Rostock and the district of Rostock are in second place with average damage of around 1,900 euros per building. According to the data, the storms "Friederike" and "Gisela" in Schwerin caused the highest average damage to buildings in 2016 at 27,700 euros.
The inhabitants of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district got off the lightest in the 20 years, the report continued. According to the association, the damage there amounted to around 1100 euros per building. The national average is 2900 euros per building in the 20 years from 2002 to 2021.
In light of the storm damage statistics, it's evident that Schwerin's buildings have suffered the most extensive damage due to storms, averaging around 2,000 euros per building over the past two decades. During this period, severe storms like "Friederike" and "Gisela" in Schwerin resulted in the highest average damage of 27,700 euros per building in 2016.
