Budget 24: Greens confident after meeting of parliamentary group leaders in the Chancellery

Haßelmann confirmed that all the leaders of the "traffic light" parliamentary group were in the Chancellor's Office on Tuesday morning. She named her co-chairwoman Katherina Dröge as well as Rolf Mützenich from the SPD and Christian Dürr from the FDP. Haßelmann did not want to comment on the exact status of the talks. However, she emphasized that all sides were working "flat out" to find a solution.

Due to the budget ruling by the Federal Constitutional Court, a double-digit billion amount is missing from the budget for 2024. Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) and Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) have been trying to find a solution to the problem for days. Haßelmann said that a date for a coalition committee, which would have to approve a possible agreement, has not yet been set.
