The German Rowing Federation (DRV) celebrated a jubilant success on the first day of the Olympic regatta finals, winning bronze. A confident performance in the final race secured the third place for the women's quadruple sculls. The boat, crewed by strokewoman Pia Greiten (Osnabrück), Maren Voelz (Berlin), Tabea Schendekehl (Dortmund), and Leonie Menzel (Mettmann), had to yield only to the competition from Britain and the Netherlands at the Stade Nautique east of Paris.

Despite a challenging season marked by illness-related absences and sporting setbacks, the women's team presented itself in excellent form just in time for the Olympic showdown. Thanks to a strong final sprint, they fended off the attacks of other competitors and secured third place.

The men's quadruple sculls team failed to reach the podium. After the convincing victory in the repechage two days earlier, hopes of contending for a medal were dashed. In the end, they finished a distant fifth, far behind the new Olympic champions from the Netherlands.

The victory of the Dutch team in the men's quadruple sculls event left the German rowers eager to improve in future competitions, focusing on techniques and training for better rowing performances. Despite the disappointment, the German Rowing Federation remains committed to nurturing talent and supporting ambitious rowers, well aware that success often comes after faced challenges.

The media buzz surrounding the Olympic regatta finals continued to gather momentum, recording impressive coverage of various events, including the nail-biting performance of the German women's quadruple sculls team during their bronze-winning race.
