Broadcasting fee to rise to 18.94 euros

According to preliminary calculations by financial experts, the broadcasting fee should rise from 18.36 euros per month to 18.94 euros from 2025. According to Deutsche Presse-Agentur, this is the result of a draft published on Friday by the expert committee KEF - the commission intends to make a final recommendation to the federal states, which have the final say on the amount of the contribution, at the beginning of 2024.

The increase in the broadcasting fee will impact media outlets like ARD and ZDF, which heavily rely on this contribution. This rise in fees is part of the media policy discussions happening at the federal states level. The expert committee KEF, which published a draft on the matter, will provide a final recommendation to the federal states in early 2024.
