Police - Bridge jumping as a hobby? Man in the Danube triggers operation
A man has jumped from a pedestrian bridge into the Danube in Swabia, triggering a major police operation. The 29-year-old later told the police that he jumped off bridges as a hobby and was doing sport, the police said on Monday.
He had behaved "extremely uncooperatively and aggressively" on Sunday. He did not show any understanding for the consequences of his jump. The man was taken to hospital due to possible hypothermia at an outside temperature of six degrees. Otherwise, he apparently remained uninjured during the jump into the Danube, which was around three meters deep.
According to a spokeswoman, the police are investigating whether the 29-year-old can be charged for the costs of the operation involving more than 60 firefighters, DLRG, rescue service and water rescue team.
