Infrastructure - Bridge inspection leads to traffic restrictions on A1

The upcoming main inspection of the Norderelbbridge on the A1 between Norderelbe and Hamburg-Moorfleet will lead to traffic restrictions starting from Monday (7:00 PM) between Norderelbe and Hamburg-Moorfleet. The restrictions will last until August 9th, 5:00 AM, as announced by the Federal Autobahn GmbH. Only the coming weekend will provide all lanes on the bridge for holiday traffic.

During construction work, two lanes of the autobahn will be closed in night-time hours. Drivers will only have a remaining lane width of 3.50 meters available during this time. However, inspections of the pylons take place during daytime hours. Therefore, the second overtaking lane will be closed from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. In case of bad weather conditions, the inspection will be postponed by a week.

Bridge structures are inspected every six years, according to the Autobahn GmbH. During this inspection, the construction is examined for damages and compared to the most recent damages. It will also be determined whether repair measures or traffic control measures are necessary. The results will be available in September.

The traffic restriction on the A1 between Norderelbe and Hamburg-Moorfleet, initiated by the Federal Autobahn GmbH, will not affect traffic during the upcoming weekend, as all lanes on the Norderelbbridge will be open for holiday traffic. Due to the infrastructure maintenance on the bridge, drivers should expect lane closures and reduced lane widths during specific night-time hours during the week, as per the Autobahn GmbH's guidelines.
