Börde district - Bridge building for highway 14 over the canal begins

The A14 northern extension is growing together. On Monday (12.00 noon), the ground-breaking ceremony for a further section will take place near Wolmirstedt ( Börde district). Daniela Kluckert, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport, and Lydia Hüskens (both FDP), Minister for Infrastructure and Digitalization of Saxony-Anhalt, are expected to attend the ceremonial start of construction.

The section from the Dahlenwarsleben junction to Wolmirstedt is around 11.5 kilometers long and connects to the already completed A14 Dresden - Magdeburg. It has a further junction on the B71 to connect to the district town of Haldensleben. The centerpiece is an almost 80-meter-long overpass of the Mittelland Canal.

With this section, all 97 kilometers of the A14 northern extension in Saxony-Anhalt are now under construction or in operation. Traffic is already flowing on almost 15 kilometers between the Wolmirstedt and Tangerhütte (near Dolle) junctions. The approximately 15-kilometre stretch from Dolle to Lüderitz is due to be opened on December 14.

The A14 northern extension, or more precisely the gap closure between the Magdeburg and Schwerin interchanges, covers a total of 155 kilometers. Construction began in 2011.
