Press accounts detail - Breitenreiter, Zeidler, and Maaßen are running for office in Bochum.

André Breitenreiter, Peter Zeidler, and Enrico Maaßen are rumored potential candidates for the VfL Bochum's coaching role. As per media reports, negotiations have supposedly taken place with all three men. Interim coach Heiko Butscher, who salvaged VfL from relegation in their impressive clash against Fortuna Düsseldorf, is expected to take control of their U21 squad.

According to both "Bild" and "WAZ," Breitenreiter is the top pick. The 50-year-old sported a rich coaching career in Germany, managing the likes of Paderborn, Hannover, Hoffenheim, and Schalke 04, Bochum's local neighbor. His most recent job was at Huddersfield Town in England, where he failed to save the club. Unlike the 61-year-old Zeidler, Breitenreiter doesn't come with a transfer fee attached. Zeidler has been leading FC St. Gallen for six years and has been in the spotlight in Germany on multiple occasions, including in Bochum two years ago and Augsburg last year. It's said that 1. FC Köln is currently courting him. Zeidler also has a professional history with VfL Bochum's managing director Ilja Kaenzig at FC Sochaux.

The 40-year-old Maaßen was let go by FC Augsburg last October. Before that, he had been with Borussia Dortmund's second team for two years. "Bild" doesn't mention Maaßen as a possible candidate, but "WAZ" states that he was also contacted.
