Breather for the Dax after significant recovery
After three strong weeks, the German stock market took a break on Monday. In the first few minutes of trading, the Dax was down 0.03 percent at 15,915 points. Since its October low, the leading index has staged an impressive recovery of almost 9 percent, around half of this in the previous week alone. This means that the 16,000-point hurdle remains in sight for Germany's most important stock market barometer. Over the year as a whole, the current gain amounts to a good 14%.
The MDax of medium-sized companies rose by 0.17% to 26,329 points on Monday morning. The eurozone index EuroStoxx 50 rose by around 0.1 percent.
The Dax's pause in its upward trajectory doesn't seem to affect the Stock exchanges as a whole, as the MDAX of medium-sized companies also saw a minor increase. Despite the break, the DAX is still only 0.09% away from reaching the significant 16,000-point milestone.
