In a break-in at a municipal building in the city of Worms overnight on Wednesday, a liquid was released. The perpetrator(s) forced open a cabinet and tampered with cash machines to steal money inside. Among other things, the building houses the city's citizen service office, which is now only operating on a limited basis.

Additionally, an unknown liquid was released, "which emitted a strong odor." The fire department, according to police reports, took samples of the substance. The state criminal police are now analyzing it. Authorities have not yet been able to provide information on the extent of the damage. The police are now seeking witnesses.

The police reports mentioned that the fire department collected samples of the mysterious liquid released in the break-in. The following is added: a statement from the city's environmental office, expressing concern about potential harmful effects of the substance.
