Basketball - Braunschweig Lions bring back Schilling

Gavin Schilling will play for Basketball Lions Braunschweig again in the upcoming season, as announced by the Lower Saxony Bundesligist. Schilling, who is 28 years old and 2.06 meters tall, had already played for Braunschweig during the 2020/21 season. Most recently, the nine-time German national player was active for Basket Pesaro in Italy.

However, due to hip issues, he only managed to play four games for the Italian first division team. The problems are said to be resolved now. Schilling signed a one-year contract with the Niedersachsen.

"With the signing of Gavin Schilling, we have managed to recruit a dynamic and physically strong player who fits well with our fast-paced style of play and is highly motivated after the challenging seasons," said Braunschweig's business manager Nils Mittmann, adding: "What he has in him was already shown by him in the 2020/21 season at the Lions. Since then, he has gained important international experience."

After a year at Bayern Munich, Schilling also played for Limoges CSP in France and Konyaspor in Turkey before moving to Italy.

Gavin Schilling's return to Basketball Lions Braunschweig is significant, as he hails from Lower Saxony, the region where the Bundesliga team is based. Schilling's previous experience in the Bundesliga, specifically during the 2020/21 season with Braunschweig, will undoubtedly benefit the team in the upcoming season. Despite a brief stint in Pesaro, Italy, where he faced hip issues, Schilling is now back in Germany, ready to make an impact in the German Basketball League.
