Bundesliga 2 - Braunschweig in relegation battle: "Hope again in the environment"

Eintracht Braunschweig has regained hope in the relegation battle in the 2nd Bundesliga. A win in the last game of the year against 1. FC Kaiserslautern (1.30 p.m./Sky) will allow the team second last in the table to close the gap to FCK to four points. On the day new coach Daniel Scherning was appointed in November, Braunschweig were still 13 points behind the fellow promoted team from 2022.

"This is a very important game for us. Anyone can work out what a win would mean for us," said Eintracht coach Daniel Scherning on Friday. "At no point have we made friends with the situation here. Instead, we are fighting it. We've managed to restore hope in the surrounding area."

One problem for Braunschweig: After the 3:1 win in Wiesbaden, two-goal scorer Fabio Kaufmann is missing this time due to a yellow card suspension. And his potential replacement Maurice Multhaup may also miss out. "Multi has some muscular problems. There's still a question mark over that," said Scherning.
