Decision - Brandenburg state parliament votes on RBB state treaty
The new RBB state treaty is to be voted on in the Brandenburg state parliament on Thursday (11.00 a.m.). Among other things, the state treaty between the states of Berlin and Brandenburg aims to strengthen the supervisory bodies and introduce duties of care and liability rules for decision-makers. The director's salary is to be capped and unilateral action by the directorate is to be prevented. RBB was plunged into a crisis in the summer of 2022 amid accusations of nepotism and waste.
In addition to Brandenburg's parliament, Berlin's House of Representatives will also decide on the contract this evening. RBB Director-General Ulrike Demmer fears that the contract will in part encroach on the broadcaster's independence.
In addition, climate policy is to be discussed in the state parliament on Friday (9.30 am). According to the Green parliamentary group, Brandenburg is already suffering from extreme weather events, dryness and drought. The state parliament should therefore discuss the necessary political and financial adjustments.
