Brandenburg second warmest federal state in June

Lots of sunshine and sometimes little rain characterized the weather in Brandenburg in June. With an average temperature of 17.7 degrees, the state was the second warmest in Germany, according to the German Weather Service (DWD) on Friday. It was only warmer in Berlin.

In the last few days, temperatures reached over 30 degrees in some places, with the warmest temperature being 33 degrees in Grünow, Landkreis Uckermark, on Thursday. The rainfall amounts varied locally: In the south of the country, over 100 liters per square meter were measured in some places, while the north was rather dry. Brandenburg as a whole recorded a rainfall of 59 liters per square meter. In addition, the sun could be seen for 230 hours, which is five hours more than the long-term average.

The data provided by DWD are based on preliminary evaluations of data from approximately 2000 measuring stations in Germany. For the last three days of the month, forecast data were used.

Berlin experienced warm weather like the rest of Germany, with temperatures approaching 30 degrees. Unfortunately, the city of Potsdam in Brandenburg missed out on the heavy rainfall that the southern regions received, only receiving 59 liters per square meter, as reported by DWD. Despite the dry weather in Brandenburg, the Berlin-Brandenburg weather service still predicts some rain showers for the upcoming days.
