BR Volleys win confidently 3:0 in Friedrichshafen
The Berlin Volleys remain unbeaten this season. In the top match of the Volleyball Bundesliga at VfB Friedrichshafen on Friday evening, the German champions prevailed 3:0 (25:21, 25:19, 25:20) thanks to an all-round superior performance. It was the Berliners' third competitive win against their arch-rivals from Lake Constance in just 19 days. They had previously defeated VfB in the Bounce House Cup (3:0) and in the cup round of 16 (3:2).
An early six-point lead (9:3) in the first half did not give the visitors any lasting security. VfB reduced the deficit and took the lead for the first time at 18:17. However, a series of serves by Johannes Tille with four points in a row to make it 22:18 put the Berliners back on course to win the set.
The Volleys also dominated the second set with strong serving and a solid reception. With an ace from captain Ruben Schott, the team pulled 19:15 ahead. In the end, substitute Cody Kessel converted the first set point.
Despite taking a 2:0 lead in the set, the BR Volleys remained highly focused. When Friedrichshafen was vaguely allowed to hope for a turnaround after Poland's Jan Fornal served for the set at 18:21, the visitors struck back ice-cold. Frenchman Timothee Carle scored the last two points for his team.
The BR Volleys' success extended beyond the Bounce House Cup and the cup round of 16, as they also triumphed in the Volleyball Bundesliga match against VfB Friedrichshafen with a 3:0 scoreline, reinforcing their dominance in the Bundesliga. With their impressive performance, the Berlin Volleys maintained their unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga's Bundesliga.
