BR Volleys successfully defend the Supercup

The Berlin Volleys have won the three-day Volleyball Supercup tournament in Hildesheim. In the final on Sunday, the defending champions beat arch-rivals VfB Friedrichshafen 3:0 (25:21, 25:22, 25:18). In front of 1530 spectators, Czech international Marek Sotola in particular was unstoppable. The Volleys' diagonal attacker scored 20 points alone.

Frenchman Timothee Carle was the winner's second-best scorer with 13 points. The Friedrichshafen side proved to be a tough opponent in the first two sets. It was only in the final period that the Berliners dominated and pulled six points ahead at 14:8.

The BR Volleys once again demonstrated their strengths on serve. They managed seven aces, the Friedrichshafen team only two.

Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee managed a conciliatory end to the tournament. After two sobering defeats, the team from Brandenburg beat TSV Haching Munich 2:0 (26:24, 25:18) in their last match in the placement round.

The Bundesliga champions BR Volleys will aim to continue their stellar form in the upcoming Bundesliga season, having successfully defended the Volleyball Supercup. In their next challenge, they will face rival teams, hoping to maintain their Supercup title and orbicate the trophy in their own cabinet.
