- BR Volley train again - but only in a small circle
In a small gathering, preparations for the new Bundesliga season have begun for German volleyball champions Berlin Volleys. At the training kick-off on Thursday at the Horst-Korber-Zentrum, only seven players from the 14-man squad were available, including new additions Florian Krage, Jake Hanes, Jan Fornal, and Djifa Julien Amedegnato.
The rest of the Volleys players are currently with their national teams. For example, Ruben Schott, Tobias Krick, Johannes Tille, and Moritz Reichert are part of the DVV squad, which is currently competing at the Olympics in Paris.
The full squad will be together from early September, when new signing Kyle Dagostino also arrives in Berlin. The 29-year-old American libero is currently on leave due to his wedding. The record champions will start the Bundesliga season at home against Grizzlys Giesen on September 21.
The BR Volleys will play their first two test matches against Brandenburg league rivals Netzhoppers Königs Wusterhausen on August 22 and 24. A week later, on August 31 and September 1, they will play two games against Polish Champions League team Warta Zawiercie.
After the Olympics in Paris, Ruben Schott and other national team members returning to Berlin Volleys will join Kyle Dagostino, who is currently on leave due to his wedding. Prior to the full squad's arrival, the BR Volleys will face their Brandenburg league rivals Netzhoppers Königs Wusterhausen in two test matches on August 22 and 24.
