- Borussia Mönchengladbach: The managing director of Schippers is leaving

After 25 years, Business Manager Stephan Schippers leaves Borussia Mönchengladbach at his own request. The football Bundesliga club announced on its website that the 56-year-old had asked the club to terminate his contract, which runs until June 2026, shortly after the end of the last season. "This request was granted after many intensive discussions and after successfully finding a new business manager," the statement said. The successor to Schippers was not announced. Apart from the new chairman, Roland Virkus (Business Manager Sport) and Markus Aretz (Business Manager Communication, Marketing, Digital Transformation and CSR) remain in the management, the club announced.

Successor has been determined but will be announced later

"I understand that many people may not fully understand my decision," Schippers was quoted as saying. After 25 beautiful and challenging years at Borussia, he felt that "the right moment for a change in management and the right moment for my departure has come." Borussia President Rainer Bonhof praised the "outstanding work" of Schippers. At the same time, he explained that the successor "cannot be named at the moment with regard to his current employer." This will be done in the near future.

Schippers' departure opens up an opportunity for a new Soccer club manager to join Borussia Mönchengladbach. The successful candidate will be announced shortly, as the current successor is still contractually bound to their current employer.
