- Borussia Dortmund addresses Moukoko transfer speculations: "Transfer market remains active"
Borussia Dortmund's top brass has been guarded about rumors swirling around star forward Youssoufa Moukoko potentially leaving the club. "The transfer window is yet to wrap up for a couple more days. We'll carry on discussions," said sports director Sebastian Kehl following Dortmund's 4-1 victory over 1. FC Phoenix Lübeck in the initial round of the DFB-Pokal in Hamburg. "At the moment, no decisions have been made. We'll have to observe and see how events unfold."
The 19-year-old Moukoko and midfielder Salih Özcan (26) were overlooked for the squad by new BVB manager Nuri Sahin for the initial competitive match of the new football season. Sahin stressed that his decision regarding Moukoko wasn't linked to the striker's transfer plans.
Spanish news outlets: Betis Sevilla covets Moukoko
"That's not my call. I deal with sports matters. It was a sports-related choice for both players," said the 35-year-old Sahin following his debut as the new manager. "The lads have trained well. But I can only take a limited number with me. It just so happened to be those two lads."
According to Spanish sources, Betis Sevilla is eager to secure Moukoko's signature and has tabled an offer. With Dortmund boasting an array of attacking options, the striker, who honed his skills at FC St. Pauli and then at Dortmund, stands minimal chances of regular game time. Recently, Dortmund brought in Maximilian Beier from TSG Hoffenheim after Niclas Füllkrug's departure to West Ham United. Olympique Marseille, Stade Reims, and Nottingham Forest are also reportedly eyeing Moukoko. In Dortmund, the two-time international still has a contract until June 2026.
The transfer window is still open for a few more days, allowing potential moves for players like Youssoufa Moukoko to be discussed.Despite Spanish news outlets suggesting that Betis Sevilla is interested in Moukoko's transfers, no decisions have been made yet by Borussia Dortmund.
