Football: The Beautiful Game - Border control measures intensified by European Championships for federal law enforcement authorities.

The upcoming football tournament will impact rail traffic from Prague to Dresden and at stations in Erfurt and Magdeburg, along with airports in Dresden, Leipzig-Halle, and Erfurt. Extra forces will be enlisted at these locations.

As informed by a police spokesperson, they'll be examining travel plans to determine if individuals have a prior police record. This agency can legally terminate journeys and send people back at border checkpoints.

Although it's uncertain whether roadblocks will cause significant traffic delays, the police are prepared to handle such scenarios.

On Wednesday afternoon, a Georgian football fan's journey on the A4 motorway ended abruptly in Görlitz. The 40-year-old, who claimed to be on his way to a game in Dortmund, was arrested. He had an outstanding fine for theft with weapons, issued in February, and faced entry and residency restrictions by Saxon authorities.

Since June 7th, the Federal Police can conduct random border checks due to heightened European Football Championship security measures. These checks involve passengers from the Schengen area, both in air transport and at ports. The fixed border controls with Poland, Czech Republic, and Switzerland have been extended to counter smuggling crimes and curb irregular migration.
