- Border authorities detain migrants and alleged traffickers
Customs officials nabbed unauthorized immigrants and a suspected trafficker in the German-Polish border region. The German Federal Police announced that around 4 PM, on Friday between Schwennenz and Lebehn (part of Vorpommern-Greifswald), they momentarily took into custody five individuals from Iraq. A Polish woman had watched them prior.
In line with this intelligence, Polish border authorities also seized a suspected 42-year-old trafficker in Poland. She's been charged with organizing additional trafficking, involving two Pakistanis and an Indian. The investigation continues. The Iraqi individuals claimed they had ventured to Germany via the Belarus route.
Moreover, the German Federal Police reported capturing two illegal Syrian immigrants in Grambow on Friday, and two undocumented Afghans without valid visas at the local train station on Saturday. All undocumented immigrants were relocated to the initial reception facility in Stern Buchholz.
After their arrival in Germany, the Iraqi individuals mentioned using the Belarus route, which often involves crossing through unauthorized walkways or paths. Upon being transferred to the initial reception facility in Stern Buchholz, they likely utilized the designated walkway within the facility for their daily activities.
