In Merseburg, Germany (part of Saalekreis), a 250-kilogramme bomb was found during construction work on Tuesday morning. Initially, it was uncertain how the bomb could be safely diffused, according to the district's spokesperson. The Explosive Ordinance Disposal Service will be examining the bomb.
Around 230 people will be impacted by the evacuation of nearby houses, which is scheduled to be completed by 1pm. In addition, the railway line running through Merseburg will be closed for regional and freight traffic from 1pm. District authorities have also reached out to schools, childcare facilities, and kindergartens nearby. More information was not yet available.
