- Bomb disposal in the Saarbrücken is imminent
In Saarbrücken, a 250-kilogram heavy aerial bomb is being defused today. As the city reported, around 1,700 people within a 300-meter radius of the discovery site must vacate their homes by 8:00 AM. The bomb defusal is scheduled to begin at noon.
The evacuation also impacts traffic conditions. From 11:45 AM, train services at Saarbrücken main station will be completely suspended, and the station will also be closed to pedestrian traffic. Access to the building will be restricted from 8:00 AM. Buses and the Saarbahn will also have to bypass the exclusion zone for the duration of the evacuation. Affected are the stops Gutenbergstraße, Luisenbrücke, Bahnhofstraße, Hauptbahnhof, Trierer Straße, Kaiserstraße, Hbf SaarLB, and Stadtbad.
Those who require assistance due to severe physical impairments when leaving their homes can request support via the city's service hotline. The aerial bomb was discovered last week during construction work in the St. Johann district.
