Bollywood's "King of India" experiences recovery following hospitalization due to heatstroke.

A renowned 58-year-old celebrity went for treatment in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on Wednesday due to the searing heat that reached 45 degrees Celsius (113 Fahrenheit). His manager, Pooja Dadlani, updated fans and supporters, "Khan is doing well. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers."

The Ahmedabad (Rural) Superintendent of Police, Om Prakash Jat, informed reporters that Khan had been admitted to K D Hospital because of a heat stroke. Later, Khan's wife, Gauri, visited him at the hospital. CNN reached out to KD Hospital for comment.

Resembling a demigod in India, Khan holds an esteemed position as an actor, appearing in over 90 movies, earning numerous awards. He even received India's fourth-highest civilian honor in '05 and made Time magazine's 100 most influential list in '22.

Khan was in Ahmedabad to catch a cricket match as his team, Kolkata Knight Riders, battled it out with Sunrisers Hyderabad. His hospitalization coincides with a heatwave plaguing parts of India, making people ill and closure of schools since temperatures exceeded the limits of human survival.

Various cities in the north saw temperatures over 45 degrees Celsius, warned the India Meteorological Department, expecting a severe heatwave in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and the capital territory of Delhi.

In response to the sweltering conditions, Delhi authorities urged schools to close early for the summer break and temperatures surpassed 47.4 degrees Celsius. Barmer, Rajasthan, even recorded 48 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The high temperatures are anticipated to continue for some days, said the IMD.

With nearly 1.4 billion people, India is battling an extreme heatwave while holding a national election. This Sunday, Delhi (population 11m+) will vote. Although heatwaves commonly occur in May-June, they've been arriving earlier and extending longer in recent years. The climate crisis is projected to worsen, making more frequent and extensive heatwaves inevitable, pushing India's capacity for adaptation to its limits.

India is among the nations most vulnerable to the climate crisis, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, potentially stalling its development and, conversely, even reversing improvements in poverty, health, and economic growth.
