Police divers have discovered a body in a gravel pit lake in the Black Forest-Baar district. Since Saturday, a man had been missing there. "It's likely that it's probably the person in question," a police spokesman said. The next step is to identify the body.

The 52-year-old had reportedly gone into the Riedsee in Hüfingen on Saturday evening and had not resurfaced, the police said. Other people present at the scene called the emergency services after the incident, according to a police spokesman.

The German Life Saving Association (DLRG) then conducted a large-scale search operation, involving boats and divers, a rescue helicopter, and a drone. The search was unsuccessful and was called off around midnight. The search for the missing person continued on Sunday.

The police will likely question individuals who were present at the Riedsee on Saturday evening for more information. The local authorities have requested assistance from the coroner's office to aid in the identification process.
