General Manager - Bodo Busse moves from the Saar State Theater to Hanover
The general director of the Saarland State Theater, Bodo Busse, will move from Saarbrücken to Hanover in the summer of 2025. He will take over the directorship of the State Opera there from the 2025/2026 season, the Saarland Ministry of Culture announced on Monday. Busse has been General Director of the State Theater in Saarbrücken since the 2017/18 season. He is ending his directorship there early: his contract would have run until 2027.
"The offer to take over this major German opera house in Lower Saxony came to me at very short notice last week," said Busse. It offers him "new attractive opportunities".
Busse had "achieved a great deal" in Saarbrücken, said Culture Minister Christine Streichert-Clivot (SPD). His appointment to the Hanover State Opera is "also a source of pride: it is a great accolade for the quality of our Saarland cultural landscape. Bodo Busse will be a wonderful ambassador for our Saarland."
