Bochum with tailwind to Hoffenheim

The 14th Bundesliga matchday begins with a clash of opposites. Hosts Hoffenheim are winless in four league games, while Bochum are unbeaten in five. That eases VfL's worries.

Bundesliga - Bochum with tailwind to Hoffenheim

Five games, no defeats - after the longest run of success since their return to the top flight in the summer of 2021, VfL Bochum head into Friday's away game at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (20:30/DAZN) with confidence. "We're going there to take something with us," said Thomas Letsch on Thursday, full of hope for a continued upward trend for his team. Although their opponents have not won in the Bundesliga in the last four games, the VfL coach is expecting a tricky task: "This is a team that is rightly in the top third and has a lot of potential. We have a big task ahead of us."

In Letsch 's opinion, his team has benefited in recent weeks from the progress made in defense in particular, having climbed to 12th place. "We conceded a lot of goals at the start of the season. After the games against Bayern (0:7) and Mönchengladbach (1:3), we thought that we had to change something. Recently, we were very stable, allowed very few goals and made a step forward," praised Letsch, "an average of one goal conceded per game recently is top."

Compared to the first home win in the 3:1 victory over Wolfsburg last matchday, Letsch will only make moderate changes to the starting eleven: "It worked quite well in the last game. Then it doesn't take much imagination for us not to make many changes." Because central defender Keven Schlotterbeck is not available after his 5th yellow card, Bernardo will move inside, according to Letsch. Maximilian Wittek will take Bernardo's position on the left side of defense.
