- Bochum loaned goalkeeper Thiede to Ulm
VfL Bochum loans Niclas Thiede to SSV Ulm for at least a year. The Bundesliga football club announced on Wednesday that the 25-year-old goalkeeper will gain match experience with the second division newcomers. No purchase option was agreed upon.
Injuries had previously prevented Thiede from making a competitive appearance for Bochum. "At this stage of his career, match practice is crucial. That's what we're expecting from this loan to the 2nd Bundesliga at a high level," said Bochum's sporting director Marc Lettau. The club, where the keeper is still under contract until June 30, 2027, still believes in his potential to become a Bundesliga goalkeeper.
Thiede will complete the goalkeeper team at the Spatzen. "I'm incredibly excited about the challenge. I'll try to integrate and contribute as quickly as possible, because the league opener is already coming up on Sunday," said Thiede.
VfL Bochum's decision to loan Niclas Thiede to SSV Ulm is aimed at providing him with ample match experience in the 2nd Bundesliga. Despite being under contract with VfL Bochum until 2027, Thiede will now be an essential part of SSV Ulm's goalkeeper team.
