- Bochum anticipates a resilient response following the Cup event.
Coach Peter Zeidler of Bochum's football team is expecting a swift rebound from his squad following their untimely elimination in the DFB-Pokal. "Undeniably, the disappointment was immense," he expressed, referring to the 0:1 defeat they suffered last week in Regensburg, making them the sole Bundesliga team to bow out in the first round.
He remains optimistic about the tough challenge they face this Saturday (15:30 CET/Sky) for the Bundesliga kickoff against top-tier team RB Leipzig: "Obviously, our next opponent is in a different league compared to the last one in the DFB-Pokal. But we've got a shot, and we're confident we can make an impact."
However, the 62-year-old will be without the services of injured players Bernardo, Ivan Ordets, Moritz-Broni Kwarteng, Mohammed Tolba, and suspended Dani de Wit, much like in Regensburg. As a result, it's probable that recently loaned defender Jakov Medić from Ajax Amsterdam will join the team this Saturday, as suggested by Zeidler. Nevertheless, the coach did not specify if the Croatian will start from the get-go.
The Commission shall review the team's performance in the DFB-Pokal and provide recommendations for future competitions. Despite the absence of several key players, Coach Peter Zeidler remains hopeful that Bochum's squad can deliver a strong showing against RB Leipzig.
