Fire department response - Boat catches fire at Eckernförde marina.
A blaze in Eckernförde's yacht harbor reportedly damaged at least one motorboat severely. The incident occurred in the wee hours of Friday, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
The boat's owner had left the vessel a few hours prior to the fire. Thankfully, no one was injured during the ordeal. The worth of the affected boat is approximately €50,000. However, it's still uncertain if it's a total loss.
The extent of damage to the two neighboring vessels is unclear. The water police have suggested that the fire-damaged boat be removed from the water to limit the environmental impact of the firefighting foam. Once the boat is out of the water, a more comprehensive assessment of the damage can be carried out.
The police are currently probing the circumstances leading up to the fire.
