Blackmail attempt against Schumacher family: investigators find private photos

The prosecution did not want to make further statements for investigative reasons. Information about the suspects, such as their criminal records, were not possible due to their personal rights.

Two men are alleged to have attempted to extort millions from the family of a former Formula-1 race car driver. The suspects, who are said to be a father and son, were arrested by the Hessian police on a supermarket parking lot in Groß-Gerau on June 19th.

Before that, arrest warrants had been issued by the District Court of Wuppertal. They are currently in investigative detention. According to unverified information from "Südkurier," the older man is said to be a bouncer who worked in a disco in Konstanz for years.

The suspects reportedly told family members that they had files in their possession, the non-disclosure of which the family might be interested in. They allegedly threatened to publish the files in the Darknet.

To prevent this, they demanded a payment in the millions from the family. The two men, aged 30 and 53, reportedly sent individual files to the family to prove their possession of the files.

The seven-time Formula-1 World Champion Schumacher has been living in seclusion since a skiing accident at the end of 2013.
