In the southwestern part of Leipzig, an abandoned wooden barrack has caught fire. No one was injured, but smoke could be seen from a distance.

Due to a fire, large black smoke clouds were visible in the Leipzig southwest sky on Sunday evening. A spokesperson for the police confirmed that an abandoned wooden barrack in the Schönauer Straße had caught fire. Part of the 40 by 10 meter structure was allowed to burn under controlled conditions by the fire department in the evening.

No one was in danger due to the fire, and there were no reported injuries. The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire. Arson cannot be ruled out at this time.

The intensity of the fire caused a fiery glow to illuminate the night in the southwest Leipzig area. The police are seeking to determine if the cause of the fire in the Schönauer Straße wooden barrack was arson.
