Global utilization - BKA Declares Major Victory Against Worldwide Cybercrime
German authorities have taken action against a malware distribution network, issuing ten international arrest warrants and arresting four suspects. In total, eight people have been deemed suspects in this operation. Six more are being sought by the authorities for their connection to the criminal organization behind the distribution of Trickbot malware.
The operation, spanning across four countries - Armenia, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Ukraine - saw searches in 16 different locations over the course of two days. Evidence was gathered, and is currently being evaluated to possibly lead to more investigations.
BKA Vice President Martina Link expressed satisfaction with the results of the largest ever international cyber police operation, stating, "The prosecuting authorities have dealt a significant blow to the cybercrime scene." The success of the operation was attributed to the pursuit of both infrastructure, the people involved, and their financial resources.
Multiple prosecutorial teams worked together on this case, with representatives from the Netherlands, France, Denmark, Great Britain, Austria, and the United States. Assisting them was the Europol Police Agency and the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation.
